"The four days really were a cathartic experience: the music and performances on offer ranged from surprising to superb, demanding to inspirational, but most of all they were, finally, new."
Süddeutsche Zeitung, 2009

Moers festival continues to celebrate the vitality and joie de vivre of contemporary improvisation by taking a leap forward in the digital realm - streaming live online for the first time in the history of the festival.

Directed by Reiner Michalke, the 39th Moers Festival brings together different generations, continents and musical languages, with style defining musicians such as guitar legend Bill Frisell, Arto Lindsay and Fred Frithjazz, alongside gloriously talented rising stars such as Miss Platnum and Dobet Gnahoré.

" 'Old' heroes will stand shoulder to shoulder with new ones on the stage of the festival tent; there will be quiet music and loud music, fast music and slow music, angry music and sweet music, but always good music."
