An oboist with record-breaking lungs
Alexei Ogrintchouk, oboe
Alexei Ogrintchouk doesn’t just have big lungs (it’s official!) and a big engaging smile, he also has an all-embracing approach to his musical life which he describes as a ‘permanent masterclass’. This short film encapsulates the clear focus and relish with which he plays out his many roles – as soloist, teacher, chamber musician and principal oboist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Filmed in Sweden during recordings for his new CD of Bach Concerti on BIS, this profile film features Swedish Chamber Orchestra and Alina Ibragimova. BBT has helped Alexei Ogrintchouk to commission a new concerto from Marc-André Dalbavie, to be premiered with BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican on 17th December 2010.
